Sity walls and gates : stiuated on a peninsula ,side was in a vulnerable position and protected itself with high fortifying walls on all sides .despite several earthquakes, the lands was and their,towers are still in quite good condition .they are build of conglomerate stone.The sea was by contrast are in far poorer condition .Two gates in the eastern wall gave entrance in tothe city the main gate ,built in the hellenistic period is flanked by two towers and opens on to a u shaped courtyard .passing through a square room ,one enteredthe city .The smaller gate is also from the hellenistic period ,but this gate has square towers and a square courtyard .from the latter gate , a main street runs in a straight line to the peninsula's westernmost point 

Nymphain :Opposite the main city gate and out side the walls is the nymphain with an ornate façade inset with three niches ; a fountain is placed in front .water ran from outlets set in the niches 

Agoras : An idea of the city's grandeur can begainedfrom the fact that it had more than one agora .The agora which stands opposite today's  museum was surrounded by porticoes with rows of shops behind them .the public toilets stand in a corner of the agora .they were in a vaulted building which was elaborately decorated .these are the best preserved of the ancient public toilets in anatolia ,and it had 24 toilets .sewers carried away the waste and water channels brought in clean water in the middle of the agora is a circular temple to tyche,goddess of fortune ; only the base of the building is left today .12 columns once stood around the building and the temple used to have a pyramid shaped roof.Linced to a second state agora by a street this other agora was surrounded by porticoes with lonic columns Probably used as the slave market,a raised platform in the middle would have been used to display the slaves .Behind the eastern portico was a grand ornamented three -roomed builing .which was probably either a libraray or a palace .Originally  two storeyed it was decorated with statues 

Theatre : The  theatre at side is the only one of it's kind in Anatolia ;it was constructed in the 2 nd century  AD on hellenistic foundationis. The area on which it was built is flat apart from a small rise,and the teatre was built into this rise in greek fashion,but the highest seats had to be supported ,and these were built up over an arched supporting structure .The largest theatre in pamphylia ,it seated 17000 people The cavea had 58 rows of seats divided equally by a central diazoma .Access to all parts of the theatre was by covered galleries and stairways. The orchestra was more than a semicircle and was surrounded later by a high wall .waterproof material was sometimes laid down .the orchestra filled with water ,and naval battles were re enacted .it would also have been used for wild animal combats or gladiator fights ,or when slaves were thrown in with the animals for entertainment.

The 63 mlong stage building was two -storeyed and based on a podium .Heavily decorated and ornamented it had friezes as in the theatre at perge ,again depicting dionysus ,in the 5 th -6 th centuries AD the theatre was usead as a churd .

Side -Manavgat

Side war inder antike eine wichtige hafenstadt nicht nur pamphyliens sondern des gesamten mittelmeergebiets .Side wurde auf einer halbinsel erbaut und die überreste des imposanten theaters,der agora des denkmal springbrunnens,des heute als museum genutzten hammams und ein teill der festungsmauern und von saulen gesaumten strasen,sowie selbstverstandlich ein teil des riesigen aquadukts,das von der 30 kilometer entfernten quelle melas wassertransportierte sind heute noch erhalten .

Antike quellen berichten ,dass der hafen von side,wenn er mit sand zugeschwemmt wurde oft nicht nutzbar war und dass die sauberung ein groses problem darstellte .Aus diesem problem entstand der sprichwörtliche ,,hafen von side der der zum synonym für misslungene angelegenheiten wurde.

Alls im 4.jahrhundert v.chr.Alexander der grose gegen die stadt zu felde zog,leistete side keinen widerstand und gab dem mactigen könig alles ,was er verlangte.Die quellen belegen ,dass Alexander der grose nachdem seine wünsche erfüllt waren ,nach Aspendos zurückkehrte .Die bevölkerung von side erlebt auch ,wie der berühmte feldherr hannibal von karthago anfang der 190 er jahre v.chr.side gegen die im namen der römer kampfende bevölkerung von rhodos anführte und die see schlacht verlor .Syembol der stadt war der granatapfel ,der auf münzen gepragt und in stein graviert wurde.

Der manavgat -fluss einer der wichtigsten flüsse der mittelmeerküste ,durcquert den landkreis manavgat und teilt ihn in zwei teile bevor er ins meer fliest .Dieser fluss deren erste brücke erst zu zeiten der türkischen republich erhielt ,bestimmt die verteilung der dörfer von manavgat auf die almen bergweiden.

Die ferienanlagen ,die sich an den standstranden sorgun im osten und ılıca und kumköy im westen an beiden ufern der pamphylischen stad side entlang erstrecken ,haben die gegend von manavgat zu einem der interessantesten urlaubsorte des mittelmeers gemacht .Dank der scheinbar unendlichen sandstrande,der sich dahinter erhebende berg-und weidenlandshaft, seiner geschichte,die die bevölkerung auch heute noch beeinflusst und des flusses ,der mit wasserfallen für abwechsung sorgt,ist manavgat eine einzigartige tourismusregion sowohl für urlaubs-als auch für kulturliebhaber.
